My work…

Below are samples of my work on icons/logos, print, video, and web and brief descriptions of my involvement as a designer.

Icons

Shared on the Noun Project

I designed these icons for various projects over the years. I created them using Adobe Illustrator and shared as public domain SVGs on the Noun Project website.

Logos

Concepts and design

Logo designs for APPLE Values and Our Journey

I developed the APPLE Values concept in 2008 for a non-profit being formed at the time. The organization's name included the acronym APPLE (Actively Promoting Positive Lifelong Education). Its purpose was to help create and send positive messages about education.

The our journey logo was designed for a team participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event. The survivor's team motto emphasized how battling cancer is a journey we go through together – it's our journey.

Print

Full color, two-sided 8.5"x11" flyer for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Hawaii Survivors' Conference

I worked closely with the conference planning committee to determine their needs and created an on-brand, cost-effective solution. They wanted an invitation flyer that could be folded in thirds and mailed with or without a standard #10 envelope. The flyer also needed to serve as the conference handout at the event. I designed the flyer in collaboration with the planning committee members while adhering to the non-profit's brand style guide. I also coordinated the printing at a local printer.

Print

Multiple designs for Andrew Yang's 2020 presidential campaign

I designed 25+ print collateral with Yang Gang Hawaii in support of Andrew Yang's 2020 presidential campaign and shared at the time on Yangprints.com. Designs included business cards, buttons, handouts, posters, and stickers.

Video

Promotional video for the DCDC Group, University of Hawaii

I lead this video project from concept to final product during my time as Instructional-Media Designer with the College of Education, University of Hawaii. The DCDC Group needed a short-format, informative video to promote the Elluminate Live! product. I developed the concept, script and storyboards, and coordinated the review & approvals by faculty and other stakeholders. I scheduled and conducted the audio/video recordings and used Audacity and Final Cut Pro for editing.

Video

Concepts and production of nine 30-second education PSAs

These 30-second PSAs were developed under various federal grants projects with the College of Education, University of Hawaii. We discovered an on-going need to send positives messages about education and teaching. I drafted the concepts, refined them with SMEs and other professionals, and managed the procurement & production of the videos. I also coordinated the airtime of the videos with the local cable and network stations.

Web

Design, coding, and maintenance of the Making Ends Meet website

I first worked with Making Ends Meet in 2008 to design and develop their website. Initially, it was built with Wordpress, but we later realized that constantly updating content was not a priority for the non-profit or the target audience. After examining their web traffic analytics and learning about some user feedback, we decided to switch to a responsive, static HTML/CSS solution. I coded the refreshed website and continue with occasional web maintenance.

Web

Design to modernize the State of Hawaii's public meetings website

As part of a small, multi-discipline group at NIC Hawaii, we teamed up with the Hawaii agency to assess and redesign the state's official public meetings calendar website. See the previous site archive and the new redesigned site. I served as lead designer and collaborated with state agency staff and our internal team to be certain the solution would be inclusive and modern for today's users. I coded the prototype website and worked with the developers to help ensure the final product was built as designed.
